¡Ole! The latest numbers for 2024 are in, and it looks like Spain’s online gambling industry did well.

The Southwestern European country that reported an impressive 14.4% gross gaming revenue (GGR) increase in the third quarter of 2024 ended the year reaching even greater heights.

Namely, its GGR soared by 17.6% compared to the previous year. The explanation comes from the significant gains recorded in both the online casino and sports betting sectors.

New All-Time High for Total Online GGR

According to figures released earlier in the week by regulatory body Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ), total online GGR for the 12-month period ending December 31, 2024, amounted to €1.45 billion ($1.56 billion).

This not only surpasses the €1.24 billion ($1.34 billion) recorded in 2023 but also sets a new all-time high for the Spanish market.

Deposits from players climbed 19.6% year-on-year to €4.58 billion ($4.95 billion), while withdrawals increased by 19.7%, reaching €3.15 billion ($3.40 billion) as player winnings rose in tandem with overall gambling activity.

Online Casino Hits New Record

Breaking down the figures by sector, online casinos remained the most profitable segment in Spain’s digital gambling landscape.

GGR from online casinos surged by 17% to hit €730.7 million ($790 million), another record for the country.

Within this category, slot games were the top performers, generating €472.2 million ($510.9 million) in revenue, marking an important 22.8% rise.

Live roulette games generated €208.8 million ($229.5 million), while classic roulette titles only contributed around a tenth of that, at €24.9 million ($26.9 million).
