After winning their first two games of the 2025 MLB season – both against the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo – the LA Dodgers are coming back to California. That’s where they’ll welcome the Detroit Tigers on March 27.

The Tigers at Dodgers game is going to be the first game of the season for the boys from Michigan. However, based on what we saw from them in the Spring Training, they’re in trouble.

Are the Detroit Tigers Ready for the 2025 MLB?

Detroit’s spring training record was mixed, with notable games including a 9-1 victory over the Baltimore Orioles and a 4-0 loss to the NY Yankees in split-squad action.

Their pitching staff showed some promises, with Tarik Skubal leading the charge. He showed that he’s ready for another big season by striking out nine and allowing just one run over six innings against the Orioles.

Casey Mize, returning from Tommy John surgery, has shown increased fastball velocity and improved secondary pitches. He might not shine straight away, but we could see him do very well once the season starts to heat up.

When it comes to the Tigers’ first game of the 2025 MLB, their ace up the sleeve could be Spencer Torkelson. The 25-year-old baseman was nothing short of brilliant in the Spring Training, leading the team with four home runs, while posting a 1.057 OPS.

Will the Los Angeles Dodgers Go 3-0?

The Los Angeles Dodgers began their 2025 MLB season in the capital of Japan. At Tokyo Dome, we saw them beat the Chicago Cubs twice.

The first of those wins happened on March 18, when Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto made his start for the Dodgers, thus writing history as the first pitcher from Japan to start on Opening Day.

He did great in that game, allowing only one run on three hits over five innings. His compatriot Shohei Ohtani impressed as well, recording two hits (including a double) and scoring two runs.

As a result, the Dodgers secured a 4-1 victory in the season opener. Then, a day later, they won again. This time, it was the newcomer Roki Sasaki who stole the show with his 101 mph pitches. The 23-year-old, however, did struggle with control, issuing five walks over three innings and allowing one run.

Not great, but it didn’t hurt his team. His teammates actually saved the day – home runs from Shohei Ohtani, Tommy Edman, and Kike Hernandez led the Dodgers to a 6-3 win.

Detroit Tigers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction

Right now, the Dodgers look unstoppable. While we do think the Tigers are going to have a fine season, we don’t think their campaign will start well. Instead, our prediction is that the Dodgers will steamroll them on Thursday.
